SpinWork - NMR Software solution

$ C7 S2 P5 V# J" P. uSpinWorks other function is the simulation and iterative analysis of0 E+ _/ R) P' X7 w: _# F complex second order spectra including dynamic NMR problems and certain + G E3 V; z; c" U }# {3 y' x% jsolid-state NMR problems, in a manner similar to our UNIX Xsim program.( N, c) X4 `/ f/ V9 B: [9 ? SpinWorks 2.4 is the forth release of SpinWorks version to contain 2D " p/ j( S M* q9 fprocessing. Full support is included for Bruker (XwinNMR/UXNMR) and: p; _+ X; T+ v2 ]) w Varian (Unix VNMR) data formats.

There have also been some 2 f/ b, L; f- r2 j, x" Vimprovements and bug fixes in the 1D and simulation routines, and these: V5 ~$ e4 J& n! ~' O should be at least as stable as those in version 1.3. While the program ( y! P5 h8 |3 Z2 h" \is to the point where it should (I hope) be useful, there will, no1 L$ O @. U8 ~ doubt, be bugs and there are things that don't yet work. The aim of the, y5 H( Q! k, ~' L# X program is to make a program easy enough for undergrads to process ' A* o4 L+ z; _magnitude COSY spectra (for example) with a single mouse click, and yet ; M, F1 u; k6 i+ C4 I* Fstill be flexible enough for research use. SpinWorks currently handles8 l X- t: H- | only one data set at a time. However, most new computers have3 }# v* N8 \ O6 }& |5 t6 m1 m sufficient memory to run two or three copies of SpinWorks8 g% B8 x# n0 Y) t$ j( B simultaneously. This can be very useful when examining the rows and/ k) n) P. l$ j' o columns of a 2D data set.

+ y8 `% r4 P+ q6 e0 q SpinWorks requires a 486 or higher processor (Pentium recommended)- V, z& d) N- D) c! `$ _; G running Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Pro, or XP (NT 4.0, XP or5 r- r9 }: D6 h' c! k/ U5 \' h/ T Win 2000 recommended).

# W" i4 j0 \8 J8 } Windows ME is probably O.K., but is untested. Installation currently 5 e, w: k2 f2 K* Q9 |( drequires about 5 Mbytes of disk space exclusive of NMR data. 32 Mbytes2 z1 T% W. L7 r" G! f or more of RAM are recommended, depending on NMR data set and 8 Y; u3 G0 J5 \, l* h2 }: ?simulation sizes. SVGA 800 x 600 or better display required (1024 x 768 / O6 z! c% }# ~# aor better recommended).

. L5 [. I% s" E1 S3 Y For 2D processing a Pentium class processor with 64 Mbytes of memory is the practical minimum.

0 D t+ V3 S& p' ?, o For 2D you should also have your display set to at least 16 bit colour, 3 {& I3 X* k3 O& r# ^& s6 S) B# V) V" O5 Notherwise the image and contour level colours will be strange. I have- `) Q/ }" o9 m0 k received reports (but have not confirmed) that SpinWorks will run under3 L4 M3 U7 d1 j& h, o5 W Linux with the WINE package and on a Mac with SoftWindows.

4 H4 V" i; |/ @; bA three-button mouse is ideal, but SpinWorks will work just fine with a ! |1 o! \6 t. _5 t+ F, [two-button mouse. Note that on "Wheel Mice" the mouse wheel also serves ! ~, A0 ]6 \: ]0 Y6 a2 M1 q2 [- M( Zas the middle mouse button. The mouse wheel can also be used for 4 [- H E. ]8 f4 I. Tvertical scaling of 1D spectra.
